I hope you like DS #1715 (and get the dozen or so microjokes) because it almost killed me. I’m probably not the first person to wreck his wrist because of the Suicide Girls. This week’s comics were something I’ve wanted to do since we started syndication- set something up in a web strip that plays [...]
Based on reaction to yesterday’s comic, the internet is full of people who are enthusiastic about fonts and typography.
Based on the comments and suggestions on my font editing question yesterday, the internet is also full of helpful, well-informed people. Thanks!
I was doing taxes and realized I’d spent mad green on Bitfonter in order to hand edit a custom version of the bitmap font I use in my print comics. getting back into it tonight, it seems to require ANOTHER $600 application to simply take the bitmap fonts and convert them to a format that [...]
DS #1711 went over pretty well, if my email is to be believed. Glad you liked it! Today’s strip, “When Life Gives You Comics, Make Comic Sans” is about one of my favorite things- typography. I may still have to Google the difference between en-dashes and em-dashes, but boy do I love imagining the voices [...]
T-Shirt Alert:
Ahoy! I caved under the weight of peer pressure and made the “HOW’S MY BLOGGING?” t-shirt. We should have those printed and mailed in a week or so. I’ve ordered some stickers and will put those up when I get ‘em in! Xeni’s reporting that the number 1-888-STFU-LOL is available for purchase, but I [...]
Tonight’s comic is a shout out to all the people in webcomics who have been targeted for deletion on Wikipedia recently. There seems to be a pretty big bias over there against the legitimacy and relevance of web-based strips, which strikes me as pretty goony for a non-official encyclopedia with enough room to include every [...]
Wasn’t planning to make these, but I could be persuaded. Someone got a head start persuading me, just FYI. (The font is Ultramagnetic, the first font I ever legally purchased … maybe back in 1998? It was made by Mike Cina and I’m tempted now to get some more weights.)
I admit I’m a little weird. I made Butt-Chuku just to see what they’d look like. Please excuse the thumbtack and string construction. Do you remember when Uncle Grandpa was a ninja for a day?

DS reader & Cherry Pi shirt wearer Lauren made it to BoingBoing for doing her dork-tastic gang sign. Geek girls are the living end, quite frankly! 3.141 4 LYFE.
I posted my Facebook profile (you’ll need to log in) on LiveGerbils tonight, so feel free to add me. Facebook feels kind of like Myspace for people [...]
