Infinite Vampness

Tonight’s “vampire as unattainable sexy gay guy” theory comic comes courtesy of this Esquire piece. Not sure I agree, but it’s a very curious take.

If you’d like to check out or link yesterday’s infinite galactic canvas comic in its proper context, here’s a permanent version.

  1. R.S. Says:

In a nutshell, my theory is that younger teenage girls are super attracted to the vampire character in these books because he is so sexually non-threatening. It is made very clear at the start of the series that Edward can not and will not sleep with the protagonist because it would be too much for him and he would end of killing her. He has to completely steel himself and gorge on animal blood before they even share a small kiss. Otherwise the temptation would be too great. He completely desires her (hence the temptation) but makes it known things can never go farther than a small embrace. And of course he is very good looking. So basically the girl gets the super hot, brooding, dangerous, misunderstood outsider and none of the sexual pressure.

This of course doesn’t explain the growing number of adult women who are obsessed with this series (which I find very strange). Or maybe it does explain it.
