[INDIE ROCK PETE HITS INDIE ROCK BOTTOM by r. stevens, j. alderman, and j. rowland] [ from the pages of dieselsweeties.com || archives | forums | about ]

Jason Alderman did all the art for this series, as well as lettering and co-plotting it. This cat is tireless and produces some of the best-told comics stories online. List him under "future comics forces of nature". Oh yeah- he did the site design too!

Jeff Rowland makes When I Grow Up, one of the weirdest and longest-running comic strips online. He wrote the script from Jason's drawings and layered fun puns on top of dialog that really helped tell a clear story.

rstevens makes the more recent web strip Diesel Sweeties. He made Indie Rock Pete out of some not-so-fond memories of art school. He (I) contributed to the plot and procrastinated publication, even as Jason and Jeff did amazing work.

MAD PROPS GO OUT TO:

Stephen Deken, who valiantly attempted to make a font out of Jason's unruly handwriting before IRP went the road of hand-lettering. Stephen is the lone-coder behind the journal-hosting site Diary-X and an amateur fontographer, who's had one of his fonts used in a real, dead-tree comic book.

Song Fight!, for truly indie music and the Indie Rock Tie-In [TM].

The crazy tunes of TMBG, because their cover of "New York City" subliminally influenced the development of the strip.

Pitchfork Media, for hyping indie music.

John Allison, for nagging rstevens.

Jordan Crane and
Highwater for the concept of two-tone comics.

Keenspot, who we would have let host this miniseries, but it just wasn't indie.

Fonthead Design, for their kickin' comics fonts, and the typewriter font called "John Doe" used in the layout.

... and
all the people who linked to Pete. You rock!
